Beth has served as a Spiritual Director since 1999.  She was trained in the ministry of Spiritual Direction as a two-year concentration for her M.A. in Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary.  Her book, Broken Hallelujahs: Learning to Grieve the Big and Small Losses of Life, was published by InterVarsity Press in 2016.  She finds herself mostly directing people in ministry, though is open to whoever feels God could use her in their journey of faith.

Beth co-led SDSDA from 2013-2016.  In addition, she has co-led a Spiritual Direction training program through Christian Formation and Direction Ministries, co-taught a class on Spiritual Direction and Formation at Bethel Seminary, and worked with Youth Specialties (YS) as the Director of Spiritual Formation for 7 years.  She has met one-on-one with hundreds of people in ministry through YS, lead retreats, written on soul care, and overseen all spiritual formation components for YS’s staff and national ministry conventions.

Beth lives in Kensington with her husband and two children. She has an evangelical background and appreciation, is deeply rooted in her urban Lutheran congregation (ELCA), and is an Oblate at St. Andrew’s Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Valyermo, CA.  She loves surfing, road trips with her family in their old VW camper van, and reading in local coffee houses.
